Jemma’s passion for musical theatre began at a young age when she auditioned for her first musical with the Apollo Players for the production of Big! The musical which played in the Kings theatre, Glasgow. Jemma was no stranger to the stage as she danced with FAB*s school of dance for as long as she remembers, a dance school that is very much still a big part of her life as her daughter Nella now attends. Throughout her years, Jemma performed in around 4 amateur musical productions a year in some of Glasgow’s famous theatres - The kings, Theatre Royal, Pavilion & The Glasgow Armadillo. Within this time Jemma played a number of roles, and also performed in the world premier of Fame forever. Jemma went on to study musical theatre and graduated in 2009. Jemma is also a teaching assistant in a primary school in Glasgow and this has grown her passion for teaching and she now wants to ensure she is inspiring her students to live life to the full and take on any opportunity that is thrown their way. Jemma is loving that her daughter Nella is now following in her footsteps and performing with On Stage! Academy.
Teaching Assistant:
Karys has attended musical theatre classes since a very young age where she developed a passion for the arts, she has a higher SQA qualification in Drama and is furthering her studies at the moment at HND level musical theatre. She obtained a merit award at grade 6 of LAMDA examination in Musical Theatre. Karys has appeared in many productions/competitions and have performed in Disneyland Paris & on Broadway, New York. She also appeared as an extra in a movie which will be released this year! Karys has been assisting alongside Jemma for 6 months and is loving being involved and helping the kids develop along the way. She is so excited to see what 2024 has in store for On Stage! Academy.
